INTRODUCTION

Good evening boys and girls.

I want you to look at your hands for a moment. Can you look at them for a moment? Palms up. At the very end of your fingers you will see your fingerprints.

Do you see these lines? Sometimes they form an arch, sometimes a loop, or even swirl.

These lines on your finger tips are unique to you. There is no one in the world that has them like you do.

Fingerprints are a good reminder that there is only one like you. It means there is only one like you. You are pretty special and unique.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been learning about Jesus. Do you know that there is NO ONE LIKE HIM? NO ONE.

For there is only ONE TRUE GOD.

I. Jesus is Man (John 1:14)
II. Jesus is Savior (Matthew 20:28)
III. Jesus is Perfect (1 John 3:5)
IV. Jesus is God (John 1:1)

CONTENT

Jesus is Man (John 1:14) –

The Bible tells us that…

14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us…

Jesus left heaven and became flesh – He was born in a manger.

At Christmas we celebrate His birth. We celebrate the fact that Jesus entered our world as a babe and was born in a manger.

Do you remember the “shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night” (Lk 2:11)?

Q: Do you remember who appeared to the shepherds?
A: An angel. Everyone say WOW!

11 [the angel said to them]… today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

A Savior came. Christ the Lord came at the right time and He was unlike anyone else who has ever been born. Jesus was not like any other baby.

For to us a Child is born. But this was no ordinary child. He is Jesus who would rescue and deliver His people.

This baby Jesus grew up in wisdom and grace and God’s favor was on Him.
Although Jesus grew up as a human, who at times became tired, hungry, thirsty like you and I, He came to do the Father’s will.

He was given a special mission. Jesus came to save His people from theirs sins. Jesus came to die. That’s how the Father showed His great love for us. Isn’t that amazing?

14 the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us…
Jesus is the Savior (Matthew 20:28) –

Do you remember our verse?

28 … the Son of Man [came] to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Jesus entered our world with a mission: to give His life.

Boys and girls, we all have sinned. We need our sins to be taken away and be removed from us.

As sinners we deserve the consequence for our sin. As sinners we deserve to die because of our sin.

But Jesus laid down His life. He died in our place.

Q: How much does Jesus love His own?
• This much? No.
• This much? No.
• This much? Yes, and He died on the cross.

This is what an angel of the Lord said to Joseph:

21 “[Mary] will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Only Jesus can save. Only Jesus is the Savior. Only Jesus lived a perfect life that we could never live.

Jesus is Perfect (1 John 3:5) –

5 … in Him there is no sin.

All throughout Jesus’ earthly life, He committed no sin.

Even when Jesus was tempted He proved to be the Faithful Son who did the will of the Father.

Both Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan and they sinned.

When Jesus was tempted by the Evil One, He did not sin.

You and I sin every day because we are sinners. Jesus on the other hand, did not sin.

Jesus faithfully obeyed God all way to the Cross!

The Bible says that it was through the obedience of the One that we are made righteous (Rom. 5:19). Only Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience.

Only Jesus could lay down His life as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of his people. But there is one more important truth about Jesus…

Jesus is God (John 1:1) –

1 …the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jesus is the Word. Jesus is God and the Gospel message we have received tells us…

3 that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Q: What happened on the third day?

He was raised. This was a fantastic miracle that proves Jesus is God.

Not only is the empty tomb proof that Jesus is God but everything Jesus did (e.g. miracles) and everything Jesus said (e.g. “I and the Father are one”) proves He alone is God.

Only God can forgive sin and the Bible says that Jesus has authority on earth to forgive sins (Mk 2:10).

CONCLUSION

My beloved little ones, we were created to worship the One True God. Pull out your hands one more time. You were created by God. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.
You were made to worship the true and living God revealed in Scripture.

When Thomas finally believed that Jesus was raised from the grave, He said, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28).

Let us pray.
