Sermon preached on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Garden Valley Chapel during our morning worship service based on Ephesians 4:7.

Take your Bible if you will and open it to the book of Ephesians chapter four. It is our joy to resume our study in this marvelous book.

We find ourselves in the believer´s practice - chapter 4-6. You might recall that chapters 1-3 discuss the believer´s position.

This is the practical section of the epistle where Paul tells the Ephesians to practice their position in Christ. Chapter 4 then is his discussion on the unity in the body, the spiritual gifts, and the former life.

As is our custom, I invite you to stand in the reading of God´s Word. Listen as I read this portion of Scripture so as to set it in place in your minds. Read Ephesians 4:7-10.

CONTENT

I must admit that this is a most difficult passage that has required quite a bit of work to understand - especially the use of the original languages and other helps along the way. I am indebted to the men who have labored most diligently in their study to "wrestle" with the text.

Both diligence and help come together to bring you this message. But I trust that it will cut deep into the core of your walk - to serve to equip you.

The title of this message is the gifts of Christ to the church.

You might recall that the first six verses speak of the unity in the church.

In fact in the first three verses Paul expresses the need to preserve that unity when he writes in v. 3 -
