Bless the Lord, O my soul
They say that you can talk to yourself as long as you do not answer back If you are like me we spend much of our silent moments listening to ourselves. We run through the dayβs activities, the honey-to-do-list, the projects, the comments people made, the conversation you had or need to have, etc. But what about saying the following to yourself (and it is okay if you say this aloud) from Psalm 103:1-4 (NKJV) β
1Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
3Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
What a great truth to tell yourself: βSoul, bless the Lord!β You realize though that it will take effort to train your soul to bless the Lord with βall that is withinβ you. βBut where do I begin,β you may ask. Start by not forgetting βall His benefitsβ which some of the overarching ones are listed in this psalm. My beloved, this is a timeless truth not limited by circumstance β βbless His holy name!β
Tomorrow we have the glorious privilege as His people to do just that. I pray that you will prepare your hearts even now. βO for a thousand tongues to sing My great Redeemerβs praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace!β Guess what my beloved β we get to sing those words together tomorrow. Bless him now, tomorrow, and always.
